Goals are expected in Vancouver tonight as the Blackhawks visit the Canucks in a battle between two defensively inconsistent teams that have shown plenty of offensive flashes lately.
Both clubs are coming off high-event games — Vancouver’s 5–4 OT win in Nashville and Chicago’s recent 7–3 explosion over Ottawa highlight what they’re capable of when lines click.
Chicago, led by Connor Bedard (16 points in 13 games), ranks middle of the league in power-play efficiency but continues to create quality looks 5-on-5. The Canucks, meanwhile, have struggled to limit opponents’ chances, allowing over 30 shots per game and holding a bottom-tier 69.4% penalty kill.
Both goaltenders are expected to be Spencer Knight (CHI) and Kevin Lankinen (VAN) — two capable but inconsistent keepers who’ve faced heavy workloads early in the season.
The first meeting between these teams ended 3–2 in a shootout, but tonight’s rematch should be much more open.
Both teams enter this one skating fast and leaning on their young cores. Vancouver’s top line of Kiefer Sherwood – Leo Carlsson – Conor Garland has driven pace, while Bedard and DeBrincat continue to push Chicago’s transition play.
Defensive depth remains a concern on both ends, especially with Forbort still out for the Canucks and Jason Dickinson sidelined for Chicago.
Expect an up-and-down game with plenty of open ice — goals on both sides look inevitable.
Chicago Blackhawks / Vancouver Canucks OVER 6 (-110)
Expect both offenses to find success against shaky defensive structures.
